Beacon Research was founded in 1997 by Jeremy Alexander. A qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table, Court of the Table and the New York Life Chairman's Council, he was frustrated that he couldn't find an objective, thorough and reliable source of fixed annuity product information to support his practice. So he left his brokerage firm to create just such a resource and founded Beacon Research.

Jeremy and his team spent many months collecting data and developing a fully relational database, along with computerized tracking and publishing systems. Beacon's initial products were print publications. The first subscription was sold in 1998 to the largest issuer of fixed annuities in the United States.

Beacon converts its print publications to the first online annuity system.

Beacon Research partnered with Milliman USA to develop and market the first fixed annuity premium study to include product level detail.

Filling a void for reliable variable annuity data, Beacon Research hired an experienced team to build their variable annuity database. A few years later Variable AnnuityNexus was introduced.

With the explosion in sales, Beacon began collection and development of the most comprehensive fixed indexed annuity system ever built.

Beacon Research moved it’s last printed report online to give clients easier access to historical information, more functionality to filter and sort the data, and the ability to access their Fixed Annuity Premium Study anywhere, anytime.

In response to a growing need to give distributors comprehensive and affordable annuity research tools, Beacon Research launched the AnnuityNexus Distributor Suite of products beginning with AnnuityNexus Spreadsheets and Variable AnnuityNexus Distributor.

Due to huge demand, Beacon launched the first direct-to-advisor pricing model, bringing institutional quality information to the advisor.

In response to our distribution clients’ need for tool a to support their sales efforts and compliance with the Fiduciary Rule, Beacon launched its Disclosure Tool. Utilizing Beacons extensive database of open and closed contracts, this tool will allow the user to identify, compare and document the advisors analysis and product recommendation.

To aid in client annual reviews, Beacon reconfigured its database allowing us to connect products and versions with the assigned CUSIP for these products. Allowing the user to identify the product version based upon CUSIP, Issue Date and State.

Much has changed since those early days. Beacon became a software developer and began making its data available with web-based search and reporting tools. We started the industry's first and only quarterly study to track and analyze fixed annuity sales at the product level, as well as the first credited rate benchmark series. We've added indexed and variable annuities to our database. Beacon Research is now a recognized annuity authority, widely cited and quoted in the financial and consumer media alike.

But some things remain the same. To assure the greatest possible degree of accuracy, it was Beacon's policy from the start to require that all product profiles be approved by issuers. Our AnnuityNexus database is still the only resource of its kind to offer 100% issuer-approved information. Determined never to compromise our objectivity, we were founded as a completely independent research organization and so we remain. We don't sell the products we track and we never will. And our complete commitment to our clients continues.
